💡 Key Update 9 October 2026 — notification out: The Indian Coast Guard has released the CGEPT-01/2027 & 02/2027 recruitment, and this time you apply on the Staff Selection Commission portal, ssc.gov.in, from 6 October to 21 October 2026 (5:30 PM). Navik (GD) has 260 posts — 130 per batch, with 13 per batch reserved for women (GD is now open to women). Four things have changed from the last cycle: Stage I is now a single 100-question, 1-hour paper (pass mark 40; 35 for SC/ST), the fee is ₹550 (was ₹300), the PFT is tougher (1.6 km in 6 min 30 sec plus push-ups and sit-ups), and the birth window is 1 Nov 2005 – 1 May 2009. Stage I is tentatively in early/mid November 2026. There is still no negative marking and no minimum percentage in Class 12. ⚠️ Important: You can apply for only one post per cycle — either Navik GD, Navik DB, or Yantrik. If you submit multiple applications in the same cycle, only the latest is accepted and all earlier ones are rejected; fees paid on the rejected ones are not refunded. Application fee is ₹550 for General/OBC/EWS; SC/ST candidates applying against reserved vacancies are exempt. Persons with any kind of disability are not eligible, as the ICG is an Armed Force under the Ministry of Defence.
3🔄 Selection Process (4 Stages)

Stage I – Computer Based Test (CBT)
From the CGEPT-01/2027 & 02/2027 cycle the Stage I exam is held through the Staff Selection Commission: one computer-based paper of 100 objective questions (1 mark each) in 1 hour, in Hindi and English, with NO negative marking. You need 40 marks to pass (35 for SC/ST). Identity check and biometrics are recorded at the centre. Tentatively scheduled for early/mid November 2026.

Stage II – PFT + Assessment Test + DV + Medical
Entirely qualifying in nature. It covers the Physical Fitness Test (men: 1.6 km in 6 min 30 sec, 20 squats, 15 push-ups, 15 bent-knee sit-ups; women: 1.6 km in 8 min, 15 squats, 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups — all done in continuity without a break), the Assessment and Adaptability Test, document verification and the recruitment medical examination. You must clear every part. Tentatively end of February 2027.

Stage III – Final Selection at INS Chilka
Merit is prepared from Stage I marks alone (Stage II is only qualifying). Navik (GD) male merit is zone-wise; Navik (GD) female merit is all-India. Ties are broken by age (the older candidate ranks higher), then by Assessment Test marks. Shortlisted candidates report to INS Chilka, Odisha for Aadhaar-based identity check, final document verification, pre-enrolment medicals, and submission of original documents including the police verification certificate. Travel to INS Chilka is at the candidate’s own expense.

Stage IV – Verification of Original Documents
After joining, the Indian Coast Guard sends every certificate for verification to the issuing Board / University / State Government. If any document is reported as not genuine, the candidate is terminated from service. Basic training itself runs at INS Chilka, followed by sea training and professional training; branch/trade is allotted as per service requirement and training performance.

⚠️ Tougher PFT this cycle: men now have to run 1.6 km in 6 min 30 sec (it was 7 min) and do 15 push-ups plus a new set of 15 bent-knee sit-ups. All events are done in continuity — a break, or failing any one event, means failing the PFT, with no extra attempts. Candidates with physical disabilities are not eligible. Wear proper sportswear; the PFT is at the candidate's own risk. Start training now — aim for 1.6 km in about 6 minutes.

💡 8th Pay Commission — not yet in effect: The 8th Central Pay Commission was constituted in November 2025 under Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, and its report is expected around mid-2027. Until the Government accepts and notifies those recommendations, every figure above remains on the 7th CPC with DA at 60%. Treat any website showing "8th CPC Navik salary" as speculation — no revised pay matrix exists yet.
