96-Month Study Plan

Month 1Foundation: GK + Reasoning

Start with Indian History, Geography, and Polity using NCERT Class 6–10 books. Read one chapter daily and make concise notes. Simultaneously, solve 20 Reasoning questions daily — Analogies, Series, Coding-Decoding. Current Affairs: subscribe to a daily GK app (GK Today, Adda247) and spend 15 minutes every morning. These GK foundations take time to build — start early.

Month 2Arithmetic + Hindi + English

Arithmetic: Cover all Class 10-level topics systematically. Practice 30 problems daily with a timer — speed and accuracy matter equally. English: Grammar revision + 1 comprehension passage daily. Hindi: Revise Vyakaran (Sandhi, Samas, Muhavare) daily with 15-20 MCQs. Take one sectional mock per week for each language section.

Month 3Subject Content – Core Month

This is the most critical month. Subject content (Tier-I for PRT or Tier-II for TGT/PGT) carries the highest marks. PRT candidates: Revise all Class 1–8 NCERT content, especially EVS, Maths, and Language. TGT candidates: Revise graduation-level content for your subject (standard reference books + NCERT Class 6–12). PGT candidates: Study post-graduation level content systematically from university textbooks. Make chapter-wise notes.

Month 4Pedagogy (Teaching Methodology)

Pedagogy is where many candidates lose marks due to neglect. Study NCF 2005, NEP 2020 Key Points, RTE Act 2009 clauses, and child development theories (Piaget, Vygotsky, Kohlberg, Bruner). Learn about Bloom's Taxonomy, Formative/Summative Assessment, Inclusive Education, and TLMs. PRT candidates: Also revise CTET Paper 1 pedagogy notes — many questions overlap. Take 20 pedagogy MCQs daily from mock papers.

Month 5Delhi-Specific GK + Mock Tests

DSSSB occasionally asks Delhi-specific questions — know Delhi's geography, historical significance (Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, Red Fort), government structure (Lt. Governor, CM, MLA constituencies), Delhi's economy and initiatives. Take 2 full Tier-I mock tests per week. Analyse every mock deeply — focus on wrong answers, not just scores. For TGT/PGT: Start Tier-II subject mocks simultaneously.

Month 6Full Mock Tests + Final Revision

Take 3+ full-length Tier-I mock tests per week. Target 170+/200 in Tier-I. Revise GK through Lucent's GK + 3-month current affairs booklet. For Tier-II aspirants: Do 2 full Tier-II subject mocks per week. Final 2 weeks: Revision only — no new topics. Build stamina for a 3–4 hour exam sitting. Stay updated on DSSSB official notification at dsssb.delhi.gov.in.

12Expert Tips to Crack DSSSB

📜

CTET is a hard prerequisite for PRT and TGT posts — no CTET = no selection, even if you score full marks in the written test. If you haven't cleared it yet, register immediately for the next CTET cycle at ctet.nic.in. CTET is held twice a year and the certificate is now valid for lifetime.

🎯

The Tier-I screening test is where most candidates are eliminated. Only 1:10 or 1:15 qualified candidates from Tier-I are called for Tier-II. You need 170+/200 in Tier-I to stay competitive. Focus on accuracy over speed — there is a negative marking of ¼ mark per wrong answer.

📚

Subject Content is the highest-scoring section in both Tier-I (PRT: 100 marks) and Tier-II (TGT/PGT: 140–160 marks). Treat NCERT textbooks as your primary study material — 60–70% of questions are directly concept-based from Class 1–12 NCERTs. Read every chapter, not just summaries.

⚠️

B.Ed holders cannot apply for PRT posts. As per the Supreme Court ruling (2023) and NCTE regulations, only D.El.Ed (2-year) or B.El.Ed (4-year integrated) holders are eligible for PRT. This is a critical eligibility rule that many candidates miss. Check the official notification carefully before applying.

📋

DSSSB sends appointment letters in batches, months or years after the written exam. Join the DSSSB Results Tracking community on Telegram to stay updated on your post's status. The 2021 cycle results are still rolling out in 2025. Patience is essential — keep your documents (educational certificates, CTET certificate, photo ID) ready for document verification at any time.

🏙️

Delhi government teachers are paid under the 7th Pay Commission with Delhi State Dearness Allowance (DA) revisions. The gross salary in Delhi is higher than many state government teaching posts because Delhi's DA and HRA structure is particularly favourable. PRT starts at ~₹67,000/month gross — a strong package for a teaching career.

📅

DSSSB recruitment is irregular — major notifications come every 2–3 years. Don't wait for the notification to appear before starting preparation. Candidates who prepare 9–12 months before the notification are consistently in the top percentiles. Use the current gap to clear CTET, strengthen subject content, and build mock-test stamina.

🔗

Apply for both DSSSB and KVS (Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan) simultaneously when both cycles are active. Both recruit PRT, TGT, and PGT. KVS is a joint drive with NVS in 2025-26. Diversifying your central government teaching job applications significantly improves your chances of securing a posting in Delhi.

13Frequently Asked Questions

What is DSSSB and which posts does it recruit for teaching?
DSSSB (Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board) is the recruitment body for the Government of NCT of Delhi. For teaching, it recruits PRT (Primary Teacher for Classes 1–5), TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher for Classes 6–10), and PGT (Post Graduate Teacher for Classes 11–12) in Delhi government schools under the Directorate of Education. Posts are available across subjects including Maths, Science, English, Hindi, Social Science, Sanskrit, and others.
When is DSSSB Teacher Recruitment 2026 notification expected?
As of May 2026, DSSSB has not released a fresh major teaching notification for 2026. The 2021 cycle (Advt 05/2021) results are still being released for some posts. A new notification is expected, but no official date has been announced — it is marked as TBN (To Be Notified). Monitor dsssb.delhi.gov.in for official updates. Previous major cycles came in 2019 and 2021, suggesting a new cycle is likely due.
Is CTET mandatory for DSSSB PRT, TGT and PGT?
CTET Paper I is mandatory for PRT (Primary Teacher) posts and CTET Paper II is mandatory for TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) posts. For PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) posts, CTET is not required. In some older DSSSB notifications, Delhi TET (State TET) was also accepted for TGT, but CTET is the preferred and universally accepted qualification. Always verify from the specific DSSSB notification.
What is the DSSSB exam pattern for PRT, TGT, and PGT?
PRT: Single One-Tier test of 200 marks (100 MCQs) — General Awareness, Reasoning, Arithmetic, Hindi, English (20 Qs each) + Subject Content & Pedagogy (100 Qs). Duration: 2 hours. Negative marking: ¼ mark per wrong answer. TGT: Two-Tier system — Tier-I is a 100-mark screening test (100 MCQs, 2 hours, common sections); Tier-II is 200 marks covering subject content (140 Qs) and pedagogy (60 Qs). PGT: Same Two-Tier structure — Tier-I 100 marks + Tier-II 200 marks with subject knowledge (160 Qs) and pedagogy (40 Qs). Both tiers have ¼ negative marking.
What is the salary for DSSSB teachers in 2026?
DSSSB teachers are paid as per the 7th Pay Commission scales: PRT (Pay Level 6) gets a basic pay of ₹35,400/month with gross in-hand approximately ₹67,000–₹72,000/month in Delhi (includes DA ~55% and HRA 24% for metro). TGT (Pay Level 7) earns a basic of ₹44,900 with gross ~₹83,000–₹88,000/month. PGT (Pay Level 8) earns a basic of ₹47,600 with gross ~₹88,000–₹93,000/month. Additional benefits include Delhi government allowances, medical facilities, and pension under NPS.
