106-Month Study Plan for LIC AAO 2026

Month 1Quant & Reasoning Foundation

Start with Number Series, Simplification, Percentage, Ratio, SI/CI — the arithmetic backbone of every banking/insurance exam. For Reasoning, master all Puzzle and Seating Arrangement types — these form 60–70% of the Reasoning section. Practice 25–30 questions daily from each section with a timer. Begin reading a business newspaper (Economic Times or Financial Express) for 15 minutes every morning — this seeds your Insurance Awareness.

Month 2Advanced Quant (DI) + English Start

Data Interpretation is the heaviest scorer in LIC AAO Mains. Practice all DI types — Bar, Pie, Line, Tabular, Caselet, and Mixed. LIC AAO DI is moderately hard; focus on speed and approximation shortcuts. For English, do 2 Reading Comprehension passages daily plus Cloze Tests and Error Spotting. Start Descriptive Writing — one essay per week on insurance or economy topics.

Month 3Insurance Awareness + GK Building

This is your LIC-specific month. Study LIC's history (est. 1956), current CMD/MD, key policies (Jeevan Anand, Money Back, ULIPs), market share, and subsidiaries. Learn IRDAI regulations, types of insurance, and key schemes (PMJJBY, PMSBY, PMFBY). Read RBI monetary policy summaries. Maintain a monthly current affairs capsule — use Adda247 or Oliveboard free PDFs.

Month 4Mains Sections + Descriptive Practice

Take up advanced Reasoning — Critical Reasoning (Mains only), complex multi-row puzzles, and Input-Output machines. Descriptive Writing: one formal letter and one essay per week. Topics to focus on: insurance reforms, digital insurance, climate risk, financial inclusion, AI in insurance. Take one sectional mock per section every week to benchmark. Review your monthly current affairs capsule twice.

Month 5Full Prelims Mocks + Mains Pattern

Prelims is qualifying — aim for 55–60/70. Take 2–3 full Prelims mocks per week. Analyse each mock for error patterns and time management. Shift to Mains-level practice — advanced DI, longer RC passages, Insurance/GK deep dives. Take one full Mains mock this month. Track which sections drain time and recalibrate your strategy.

Month 6Final Revision + Interview Prep

Revise Insurance Awareness and Current Affairs twice in this month. Take 3 Prelims mocks per week and 1 Mains mock per week. Prepare for the interview: know LIC's product portfolio, recent LIC IPO, CMD interview, LIC's revenue and market share. Read 1–2 pages of LIC annual report highlights. Practise expressing career goals — why LIC, why AAO, what value you bring.

13Expert Tips to Crack LIC AAO 2026

🎯

Prelims marks are NOT counted in the final merit list — it is qualifying only. Focus on clearing the cut-off (aim for 55–60/70) rather than maximising the score. Save your energy and deep preparation for Mains, which is what determines your selection.

🛡️

Insurance & Financial Market Awareness is the subject that separates LIC AAO from all other banking exams. 30 questions, 60 marks — and most competitors neglect it. Spend at least 30 minutes daily reading LIC product details, IRDAI regulations, and key government insurance schemes.

📊

Data Analysis & Interpretation carries 90 marks in Mains — the highest of any section. LIC AAO DI is moderately difficult with Caselet and Mixed DI being common. Practice DI daily from Month 2 and develop approximation speed — exact calculation is rarely needed.

📝

The Descriptive Paper (Essay + Letter, 25 marks) is qualifying in Mains — but only those who clear the objective cutoff get their descriptive evaluated. Prepare 8–10 topics: insurance sector reforms, IRDAI regulations, digital insurance, LIC IPO impact, climate risk & insurance, financial inclusion.

🏢

Know LIC deeply. Interview panels always ask: LIC CMD and MD names, subsidiaries (LIC Housing Finance, LIC Cards, LIC Mutual Fund), the LIC IPO (May 2022 — India's largest ever), market share in India's life insurance sector (~65%), and LIC's key products.

💡

No negative marking for Generalist AAO Prelims — this is different from IBPS PO which has 0.25 penalty. Attempt all 70 scored questions. In Mains Objective, there is also no negative marking for Generalist posts — attempt all 120 Qs strategically.

🔄

4 dedicated hours daily for 5–6 months is sufficient to crack LIC AAO with a good rank. Build a structured schedule: 1 hour Quant, 1 hour Reasoning, 45 min English, 45 min Insurance+GK, 30 min Current Affairs reading. Take at least 2 mocks per week from Month 3 onwards.

📱

For current affairs, subscribe to Oliveboard or Adda247 on Telegram — they release free monthly PDFs. Spend 15 minutes every morning scanning headlines from Economic Times. Insurance circulars on the IRDAI website are worth a monthly review for Mains preparation.
