LIC AAO Recruitment 2026 – Notification, Exam Date & Complete Guide
The LIC AAO Recruitment 2026 notification has not been released yet — as on 29 September 2026, LIC's careers page still lists only the 2025 (32nd batch) recruitment. That cycle (841 posts) is complete: the Generalist final result came on 14 May 2026 with 333 candidates selected. Starting basic pay is ₹88,635/month, with total emoluments of about ₹1,26,000/month in an A-class city.
1What is LIC AAO 2026?
LIC AAO (Assistant Administrative Officer) is a Class I officer recruitment conducted by the Life Insurance Corporation of India — set up in 1956 and India's largest life insurer. Selection is through an online Prelims, an online Mains (objective + English descriptive), an interview and a pre-recruitment medical examination.
🔔 Latest Update (29 September 2026)
The LIC AAO 2026 notification is not out yet. The official careers page (licindia.in → Careers) still shows only the 2025 recruitment, so 2026 vacancies and exam dates are TBN. The 2025 cycle is complete: Specialist and AE final results came on 9 April 2026, the Generalist final result on 14 May 2026, and scorecards with official cut-offs in late June 2026.
The AAO recruitment covers a Generalist stream and Specialist streams, along with Assistant Engineer posts. Specialist streams change from cycle to cycle — in 2025 they were Insurance Specialist, CA, CS, Actuarial and Legal (IT and Rajbhasha featured in earlier cycles). LIC does not hold the exam on a fixed yearly schedule: recent notifications came in February 2019, January 2023 and August 2025.

Final-year students were not eligible in 2025 — the graduation result had to be declared on or before 1 August 2025. Candidates can apply for only one post (Generalist or one Specialist stream) and may appear only once per post in a cycle; LIC does not set an overall attempt limit.

106-Month Study Plan for LIC AAO 2026
Start with Number Series, Simplification, Percentage, Ratio, SI/CI — the arithmetic backbone of every banking/insurance exam. For Reasoning, master all Puzzle and Seating Arrangement types — these form 60–70% of the Reasoning section. Practice 25–30 questions daily from each section with a timer. Begin reading a business newspaper (Economic Times or Financial Express) for 15 minutes every morning — this seeds your Insurance Awareness.
Data Interpretation is the heaviest scorer in LIC AAO Mains. Practice all DI types — Bar, Pie, Line, Tabular, Caselet, and Mixed. LIC AAO DI is moderately hard; focus on speed and approximation shortcuts. For English, do 2 Reading Comprehension passages daily plus Cloze Tests and Error Spotting. 13Expert Tips to Crack LIC AAO 2026
Prelims marks are NOT counted in the final merit list — but the Prelims cut-off is high (58/70 for UR in 2025) and each section has its own minimum (18 in Reasoning and Quant, 10 in English for UR). Aim for 60+/70 in mocks, then put your deep preparation into Mains, which decides selection.
Insurance & Financial Market Awareness is the subject that separates LIC AAO from all other banking exams. 30 questions, 60 marks — and most competitors neglect it. Spend at least 30 minutes daily reading LIC product details, IRDAI regulations, and key government insurance schemes.
Data Analysis & Interpretation carries 90 marks in Mains — the highest of any section. LIC AAO DI is moderately difficult with Caselet and Mixed DI being common. Practice DI daily from Month 2 and develop approximation speed — exact calculation is rarely needed.
The Mains English Descriptive paper (25 marks, 30 min) is qualifying (UR minimum 10). In 2025 it tested communication skills — emails, reports, situation analysis and précis writing — not the older essay + letter format. Practise one email and one précis a week on insurance and economy topics.
Know LIC deeply. Interview panels always ask: LIC CMD and MD names, subsidiaries (LIC Housing Finance, LIC Cards, LIC Mutual Fund), the LIC IPO (May 2022 — India's largest IPO at that time), LIC's position as India's largest life insurer, and its key products.
No negative marking for Generalist AAO Prelims — this is different from IBPS PO which has 0.25 penalty. Attempt all 70 scored questions. In Mains Objective, there is also no negative marking for Generalist posts — attempt all 120 Qs strategically.
4 dedicated hours daily for 5–6 months is sufficient to crack LIC AAO with a good rank. Build a structured schedule: 1 hour Quant, 1 hour Reasoning, 45 min English, 45 min Insurance+GK, 30 min Current Affairs reading. Take at least 2 mocks per week from Month 3 onwards.
For current affairs, follow PIB and RBI press releases and use one reliable free monthly PDF. Spend 15 minutes every morning scanning business headlines. Insurance circulars on the IRDAI website are worth a monthly review for Mains preparation.
