9. 📅 BPSC 2026 Preparation Roadmap (9-Month Plan)
Month 1–2 — Foundation – NCERT + Bihar Focus
Read NCERT History (6–12), Geography (6–12), and Polity (Class 11–12) thoroughly. Simultaneously, start Arihant's Bihar-specific GK — this is unique to BPSC and most aspirants ignore it. Study Bihar's history, geography, economy, and governance structure in detail. Make handwritten notes from Day 1.
Month 3–4 — Economy + Science + Current Affairs
Complete Indian Economy from Ramesh Singh or NCERT Class 11–12. Cover Science & Technology — focus on environment, biotechnology, and IT basics. Start daily The Hindu or Indian Express reading (30 minutes). Revise Bihar-specific current affairs monthly. Begin Prelims-pattern MCQ practice for all subjects.
Month 5 — Prelims Mock Tests & Speed Building
Give 3–4 full BPSC Prelims mock tests per week (150 MCQs/2 hours). Track accuracy by section. Target score: 100+/150 in mocks. The BPSC Prelims cut-off typically ranges from 87 to 105 for General category. Use previous year papers (BPSC 67th, 68th, 69th PYQs) as primary reference.
Month 6 — Mains Preparation Begins
Start writing practice for Mains — answer writing is a distinct skill. Begin with Hindi paper: essays (1,000–1,200 words), reports, official letters. For GS papers, practice 15-mark and 8-mark answer formats. Join a BPSC Mains test series if possible. Optional subject preparation should run parallel from Month 3.
Month 7–8 — Mains Intensive + Optional Subject
Full focus on Mains GS papers and Optional. Revise all NCERT and standard texts. Practice minimum 3 answers daily. Target full-length Mains mock test every Sunday. Hindi Essay preparation — practice at least 30 topic-wise essays. Revise Bihar GK intensively as it plays a big role in GS papers.
Month 9 — Interview Preparation (If Qualified)
Read detailed current affairs of last 1 year. Revise Bihar administrative structure, district names, recent Bihar government initiatives. Practice mock interviews. Know your optional subject deeply — it may be questioned. Stay updated on national and Bihar-specific news. Focus on personality presentation, language, and composure.

11. 💡 Expert Tips for BPSC CCE 2026
Bihar GK is non-negotiable — it separates BPSC toppers
Roughly 20–30% of Prelims questions are Bihar-specific: history, rivers, districts, schemes, government policies, and flora/fauna of Bihar. Most candidates prepare general GK well but lose the Bihar GK battle. Spend dedicated time on Bihar Ek Parichay and Bihar government websites.
Optional subject choice will define your Mains rank
The Optional paper is 300 marks — as much as either GS paper. Choose your optional (e.g. Public Administration, History, Geography, Sociology) based on your graduation background, available study material, and previous year BPSC scoring trends. Do not choose based on what friends select.
Start answer writing from Month 3, not Month 6
BPSC Mains is entirely descriptive. Candidates who start writing practice late never develop the speed or structure needed. Write at least 2–3 full Mains-pattern answers daily from Month 3. For 15-mark answers, target 250 words in 15 minutes.
Hindi paper is qualifying — but don't take it lightly
The Hindi paper is qualifying at 30% (30/100 marks) but a poor score can disqualify you despite excellent GS performance. Practise essay writing in proper administrative Hindi style. Pay attention to official letter (शासकीय पत्र) and report (प्रतिवेदन) formats which are frequently asked.
BPSC 70th analysis: Cut-offs and coaching trap
The 70th CCE Prelims cut-off for General category was approximately 100–105 marks. The exam rewards candidates who have strong foundations over those who use shortcuts. Coaching institutes are optional — many BPSC toppers are self-study candidates who used standard books consistently.
Map Bihar districts and administrative structure
Bihar has 38 districts across 9 administrative divisions. Questions on district headquarters, rivers flowing through districts, industrial zones, and flood-prone areas appear in both Prelims and Mains. A physical map of Bihar on your study table is essential.
