🆕 Current Status — as of 22 August 2026:

  • ⚠️ The CRP RRBs XV notification PDF has NOT been released yet. No application window is open at this point.
  • Exam dates ARE fixed in the IBPS Tentative Calendar 2026-27 (issued 16 January 2026): Officer Scale I Prelims 21–22 November 2026, Mains 20 December 2026.
  • The 2025 cycle (CRP RRBs XIV) is fully closed — final allotment was declared on 10 April 2026 against 3,928 Officer Scale I posts.
  • ⚠️ Vacancy count for 2026 is TBN. Be wary of any site quoting a confirmed 2026 figure — several are recycling last year's 3,928.
  • 💡 IBPS has already cleared PO (30 June) and Clerk (1 August) this season, so the RRB notification is the next one due. Watch ibps.in directly.
💡 Note on the calendar dates: IBPS labels its annual calendar "tentative" and reserves the right to move dates. Treat 21–22 November and 20 December 2026 as firm enough to plan around, but confirm them against the notification PDF when it is published.

Selection Process

1
Preliminary Examination (CBT)

80 marks | composite 45 minutes for the whole paper | Reasoning (40Q) + Quant (40Q). Qualifying in nature — marks NOT counted in final merit.

2
Mains Examination (CBT)

200 marks | 5 sections, composite 2 hours with no sectional timer. Results shortlist candidates for Interview.

3
Interview

100 marks | Conducted by the participating RRBs. Panel interview assessing banking knowledge, communication, and personality.

4
Final Merit & Allotment

Final score = Mains (80%) + Interview (20%). State-wise merit lists prepared. Candidates provisionally allotted to RRBs.

⚠️ Key difference from RRB Clerk: Officer Scale I has 3 stages including a personal Interview, unlike Office Assistant (Clerk) which has only Prelims + Mains with no interview.

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Qualifying)

⏱️ There is no sectional timer. You get a single composite 45 minutes for all 80 questions and can move freely between Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. Sectional cut-offs still apply, so you cannot skip a section entirely.

💰 Salary & Benefits

IBPS RRB PO (Officer Scale I) pay scale is ₹48,480 – ₹85,920 with structured annual increments, as fixed by the 12th Bipartite Settlement / 9th Joint Note (signed 8 March 2024, effective 1 November 2022). The breakdown below is calculated at the current bank DA of 27.83%, applicable for the August–October 2026 quarter:

💰 Bank DA is revised every quarter — not twice a year. Under the 12th Bipartite Settlement, Dearness Allowance for all IBA-member banks (including RRBs) is reset in February, May, August and November, based on the average All-India CPI-IW (2016=100) for the preceding three months. The rate rose from 25.70% (May–July 2026) to 27.83% from 1 August 2026. Because DA moves every quarter, your actual gross will shift slightly each time — the basic pay does not.⚠️ Note: bank DA is completely separate from the central government DA (60% for central staff) — the two are never the same figure.
Salary ComponentAmount

Expert Tips to Crack IBPS RRB PO 2026

1Prelims is ONLY Reasoning (40 marks) + Quant (40 marks) — focus exclusively on these two for your initial preparation phase.
2Puzzles and seating arrangements are the backbone of Reasoning — solve 3–4 new puzzles every single day.
3Data Interpretation in Mains carries heavy weight. Practice Caselet DI and Mixed DI sets daily from Month 3.
4Start a dedicated Banking Awareness notebook on Day 1. Note every RBI policy change, repo rate update, and bank merger.
5For the Language paper: choose Hindi if it is your stronger language — most RRB aspirants do better in Hindi than English.
6Solve at least 5 previous year IBPS RRB PO papers (2021–2025) under exam conditions.
7RRB PO Mains is more about speed than difficulty. Target 150+ in mock tests before attempting the real exam.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is IBPS RRB Officer Scale I (PO)?
IBPS RRB Officer Scale I, commonly called RRB PO, is an Assistant Manager-level post in Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). CRP RRBs is conducted by IBPS every year. Unlike IBPS PO (which posts officers in urban banks), RRB PO posts you in semi-urban or rural branches. The role involves managing loans, customer service, financial inclusion programmes, and branch operations.
How many vacancies are expected in IBPS RRB PO 2026 (CRP RRBs XV)?
The 2026 vacancy count is To Be Notified (TBN) — as of 22 August 2026 the CRP RRBs XV notification has not been released, so no confirmed figure exists. For reference, the 2025 cycle (CRP RRBs XIV) released 3,928 vacancies for Officer Scale I out of 13,316 across all posts. Some websites are currently quoting 3,928 as a 2026 figure; that is last year's number being recycled. Only trust the count printed in the official notification PDF on ibps.in.
What is the age limit for IBPS RRB PO 2026?
For Officer Scale I: minimum 18 years, maximum 30 years. Age relaxation applies: OBC (non-creamy layer) +3 years, SC/ST +5 years, PwBD +10 years. The exact date-of-birth window is fixed by the cut-off date printed in each year's notification, so no reliable DOB range exists for 2026 until the CRP RRBs XV notification is published — treat any DOB window you see quoted elsewhere as unconfirmed.
What is the salary of IBPS RRB PO 2026?
The starting basic pay is ₹48,480/month, rising along the scale to ₹85,920. Adding Special Allowance (26.50% of basic), Dearness Allowance at the current rate of 27.83% (August–October 2026 quarter), HRA of 8–10% of basic depending on posting area, and Learning Allowance, the gross comes to roughly ₹83,100–₹84,100/month. After NPS (10% of Basic + DA) and professional tax, net in-hand works out to about ₹76,000–₹77,000/month. Bank DA is revised every quarter — in February, May, August and November — so the gross shifts a little each quarter while the basic stays fixed.
What is the difference between IBPS PO and IBPS RRB PO?
IBPS PO recruits for 11 urban public sector banks (like PNB, BOB, Canara Bank) while IBPS RRB PO recruits for 28 Regional Rural Banks (reduced from 43 after the "One State One RRB" amalgamation effective 1 May 2025). RRB PO salary (₹48,480 basic) is comparable to IBPS PO (₹48,480 basic). The key difference is posting: RRB PO officers are posted in rural/semi-urban areas. RRB PO exam is slightly easier — Prelims has only 2 sections (Reasoning + Quant) compared to 3 in IBPS PO.

📅 Last Updated: 22 August 2026

Disclaimer: Information provided is for general guidance based on official IBPS notifications and the IBPS Tentative Calendar 2026-27. Salary figures are calculated from the 12th Bipartite Settlement pay scale at the bank Dearness Allowance rate of 27.83% applicable for the August–October 2026 quarter; because bank DA is revised quarterly, gross and in-hand figures change every three months and also vary by RRB and posting location. Always verify from ibps.in. TaiyarHo.in is not affiliated with IBPS or any Regional Rural Bank.
