What is SSC GD Constable?
SSC GD Constable is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit Constable (General Duty) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other central security organisations. It is one of India's largest central government recruitments — open to candidates who have passed Class 10.
The selection involves a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), and a Medical Examination. There is no interview — final merit is based on CBT score (with NCC bonus where applicable).

Special One-Time 5-Year Age Relaxation Announced
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced a one-time additional 5-year age relaxation for candidates who were adversely affected by recent exam scheduling delays and recruitment disruptions in CAPF recruitments. This relaxation is applicable over and above the standard category-wise relaxations shown above. Candidates who may have crossed the normal upper age limit due to CAPF recruitment delays should check their eligibility again with this additional relaxation.

⚠️ Important: PwBD Candidates — Not Eligible
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are not eligible to apply for SSC GD Constable. The posts are in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), which have mandatory combat and security-related physical requirements. These posts are classified as unsuitable for PwBD candidates as per the mandate of the respective CAPF forces. While standard government age relaxation tables list PwBD relaxations, the physical benchmark requirements effectively disqualify PwBD applicants from these specific posts.

New Medical Rules: BMI-Based Evaluation (March 2026)
As per the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) OM dated 09 March 2026, candidates will no longer be rejected on the basis of weight during PST. Weight assessment will now be done during the Medical Examination (MET) stage using BMI criteria. A BMI range of 18–25 is the eligibility standard — candidates outside this range may be disqualified at the medical stage. Height and chest will still be measured by the PST Board.
