1. What is Delhi Police Constable 2026?
2025 Cycle CBT Result: Expected May 2026
The CBT for the 2025 cycle concluded on 6 Jan 2026. Provisional Answer Key was released on 13 Jan 2026. CBT result is now expected in May 2026, after which PE&MT dates will be announced. The next 2026 cycle notification is expected in September 2026 as per the SSC Calendar.
Delhi Police Constable (Executive) is one of the most sought-after police jobs in India — a central government role in the capital city, conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Constables are responsible for maintaining law and order, patrolling, traffic management, crowd control, and assisting senior officers across Delhi's 15 police districts.
The post sits in Pay Level 3 (₹21,700 – ₹69,100) of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix. With DA at 55% (January 2026), the effective in-hand salary in Delhi (an 'X' city) reaches ₹35,000 – ₹42,000 per month — making it financially competitive. The job also comes with government quarter entitlement, medical benefits, and a secure pension under NPS.
Recruitment happens through a two-stage process: a Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by a Physical Endurance & Measurement Test (PE&MT). Final merit is determined entirely by CBT marks — the physical test is qualifying in nature. Over 27 lakh candidates applied for the 2025 cycle, making it one of the most competitive police exams in North India.

Only vacancy numbers were revised — eligibility, exam pattern, and selection process remained unchanged. For 2026 cycle vacancies, check the official notification at ssc.gov.in.
5. Selection Process
100 MCQs | 100 marks | 90 minutes | Negative marking: −0.25 per wrong answer. Final merit is based ONLY on CBT score. No sectional time limit.
Height and Chest (males only) are measured using digital equipment. Candidates must meet minimum standards before proceeding to the endurance test. This is qualifying — no marks.
Race (1600m for males, 800m for females) + Long Jump + High Jump. Must qualify race before attempting jumps. Each jump event gives 3 attempts. Qualifying in nature — no marks added.
Original certificates checked: 10+2 marksheet, identity proof, caste/category certificate (if applicable), domicile document, driving license (male candidates), NCC/sports certificates for bonus marks.
Conducted by government medical officers. Tests vision (6/12 without glasses), colour vision, hearing, general physical fitness, absence of deformity or chronic illness. Mandatory for all qualified candidates.
6. Exam Pattern – Computer-Based Test (CBT)
| Subject | Questions | Marks | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|
| General Knowledge / Current Affairs | 50 | 50 | Highest weightage — focus here first |
| Reasoning Ability | 25 | 25 | Scoring — practice daily |
| Numerical Ability | 15 | 15 | Class 10 level Maths |
| Computer Awareness | 10 | 10 | Easy guaranteed marks |
| Total | 100 | 100 |
💡 Key Rule: There is NO sectional time limit — you have the full 90 minutes for all 100 questions. Attempt GK first (it is knowledge-based and fast), then Reasoning and Computer, and save Maths for the end. This strategy maximises your score.
7. Physical Endurance & Measurement Test (PE&MT)
Important: PE&MT is qualifying only — it does NOT contribute to the final merit list. However, failing any component eliminates you from recruitment. Shortlisting for PE&MT is based on CBT cut-off scores (category-wise).

13. Expert Preparation Tips
Half the paper is General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Candidates who crack Delhi Police invariably score 40–47 in GK. Spend at least 60% of your study time on GK — history, polity, economy, science, and current affairs. Lucent + newspaper reading is the proven combination.
The Physical Endurance & Measurement Test (PE&MT) does NOT add to your marks. The entire merit list is based on CBT score alone. However, failing the physical test means elimination — so both preparation tracks are mandatory, but CBT is what ranks you.
Running 1.6 km in 6 minutes (male) or 800 m in 4 minutes (female) is a specific athletic target that requires consistent training. If you start running only after the written result, you will have barely 4–6 weeks. Start today, build stamina gradually, and peak in the final month before PE&MT.
With just 10 questions from Computer Awareness, this is the fastest-scoring section. Cover the complete syllabus in one focused week — MS Office, hardware basics, internet, number systems. These 10 marks can be the difference between selection and miss.
Delhi Police requires male candidates to possess a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving license covering both motorcycle and car at the time of PE&MT. Apply for your DL well in advance — the process takes 4–6 weeks. Missing this can disqualify you even if you pass the exam.
Delhi Police Constable recruitment is conducted by SSC (ssc.gov.in), not by Delhi Police directly. All official notifications, admit cards, answer keys, and results are published on the SSC portal. Bookmark it. Do not rely on coaching institute forwarded information for official updates.
