1What is SSC JHT 2026?
The SSC Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) Examination 2026, officially known as the SSC Combined Hindi Translators Examination (CHTE) 2026, is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for Hindi translation and language roles in central government ministries, departments, and organisations across India.
The exam recruits for six posts — Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator, Senior Translator, and Senior Translation Officer — all under Group 'B' (Non-Gazetted and Gazetted) of the central government. Selected candidates work as official language officers ensuring compliance with the Official Language Act and facilitating Hindi correspondence in government offices.

3Eligibility Criteria
🎓 Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a Master's degree from a recognised university in one of the following combinations:
- →Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject, or as the medium of examination at degree level.
- →English with Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject, or as the medium of examination at degree level.
- →Any subject with Hindi/English as the medium AND the other language as a compulsory subject at degree level.
Junior Posts (JHT / JTO / JT) — Additional Requirement:
Recognised Diploma/Certificate in Translation (Hindi↔English) OR minimum 2 years of translation experience in a Central/State Government office or PSU.
Senior Posts (SHT / ST / STO) — Additional Requirement:
Recognised Diploma/Certificate in Translation (Hindi↔English) OR minimum 3 years of translation experience in a Central/State Government office or PSU.

🪪 Nationality
Candidates must be a citizen of India. Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, or Tibetan refugees who migrated to India before 1 January 1962 intending to permanently settle in India, and persons of Indian origin who have migrated from specific countries are also eligible with a Government of India Eligibility Certificate.
