🏥 Phase 4 — Medical Examination (Final Stage)
Candidates who clear the Interview are called for a mandatory Medical Examination conducted by LIC-authorised doctors. Since the ADO role is field-intensive — involving daily travel, agent visits, and outdoor business development — candidates must meet the prescribed medical fitness standards. Only candidates who pass the medical test proceed to final appointment and joining.
⚡ Prelims Exemption — Agent & Employee Categories
LIC Agents (5 years urban / 4 years rural, with prescribed business) and LIC Class III Employees (minimum 3 years of confirmed service) are exempt from the Preliminary Examination (2023 notice). Their Mains is also 160 marks in 120 minutes but weighted towards insurance: Reasoning & Numerical Ability 20 Qs (20 marks), GK, Current Affairs & English 20 Qs (20 marks) and an insurance & marketing paper of 60 Qs (120 marks). Interview and Medical Test follow. This exemption significantly reduces their preparation burden compared to the Open Market category.

What is official (2023 notice): Prelims ranking is on 70 marks (Reasoning + Numerical) with about 20× vacancies shortlisted for Mains; Mains is out of 160; the interview is out of 40; and LIC may fix sectional minimum marks. Check your zone's result PDF on licindia.in for actual cut-off marks.
💰 LIC ADO Salary & Career Growth
As per the 2023 notice, apprentices receive a stipend of approximately ₹51,500/month (equal to the minimum basic pay of a Development Officer). On appointment as a Probationary Development Officer (PDO), the pay scale starts at a basic of ₹35,650/month, with total emoluments of about ₹56,000/month in an A-class city. LIC's 17% wage revision (approved in 2024, effective 1 August 2022) came after that notice, so the 2026 notification may show higher figures — TBN.
LIC follows its own pay scale — not IBA Bipartite Settlement (which governs bank employees) and not the Central Pay Commission (which governs IAS/IPS/Railway staff). LIC salaries are governed by LIC's internal wage settlement. Performance-based incentives are a major income source for high-performing ADOs.

Insurance & Financial Awareness is the game-changer. This 60-mark Mains section (the largest of the three) is unique to LIC ADO and most candidates under-prepare for it. Start this from Month 1 — not Month 4. Cover IRDAI regulations, LIC product portfolio, and government insurance schemes (PMJJBY, PMSBY) in detail. This is where toppers separate from the crowd.
