1What is Supreme Court JCA 2026?
JCA full form: Junior Court Assistant. The Supreme Court Junior Court Assistant (JCA) is a Group B Non-Gazetted post directly under the Supreme Court of India — the country's apex judicial authority. JCAs handle administrative functions, maintain case records, assist Judges and Registrars, manage correspondence, and keep the court's daily operations running smoothly.
Recruitment is conducted directly by the Supreme Court (no SSC or UPSC involvement), making this a rare, direct central government job. The pay, prestige, and job security make it highly sought after by graduates across India.

The SCI JCA 2025 recruitment cycle is fully over — Final Result declared on 10 October 2025, document verification + medical examination completed, and selected candidates have received joining orders. Until 30 September 2026 the official Recruitments section of www.sci.gov.in carried no regular JCA advertisement for 2026. The 2026 cycle came just one year after 2025 (earlier cycles: 2016 → 2019 → 2022 → 2025). ⚠️ Several websites recycle old 2022 pages showing "210 vacancies, apply 18 June – 10 July" and label them 2026 — those dates belong to the 2022 cycle. Ignore them.
Besides the 250 JCA posts, the Supreme Court Registry has run these 2026 recruitments:
- Assistant Registrar (Computer) — deputation basis, vacancy notice August 2026, last date 30 Sep 2026 (closed).
- Assistant Editor (SCR), Assistant Director (Museum), Senior Court Assistant (Museum), Assistant Librarian — 22 vacancies. Detailed advertisement 19 Feb 2026; applications 23 Feb – 8 Mar 2026 (closed). Pay Level 8 to Level 12. Requires a Law degree, or a Master's in Museology / Library Science depending on the post.
- Law Clerk-cum-Research Associate (2026–27) — short-term contractual engagement. Advertisement 20 Jan 2026, last date 7 Feb 2026; examination notices issued 21–24 Apr 2026.
- Court Master (Shorthand) 2025 — list of qualified candidates published 19 Mar 2026.
- General Manager, Supreme Court Departmental Canteen — deputation basis, circular dated 19 Feb 2026 (Level 7).
On 17 April 2026 the Supreme Court published the syllabus for the posts of Senior Court Assistant-cum-Senior Programmer and Junior Court Assistant-cum-Junior Programmer. This syllabus relates to the recruitment advertised in June 2025 (26 posts: 6 Senior + 20 Junior, applications 6–27 June 2025) whose examination stages were still pending — it is not a fresh 2026 vacancy announcement.
Important: this is a different post from the regular JCA. It requires a B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science or IT, or B.Sc (CS) / BCA and sits at Pay Level 6. Graduates from other streams are NOT eligible.

4Eligibility Criteria
Must be an Indian National. No domicile restriction — candidates from any state can apply.
Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognised university. No specific stream required. Qualifications are judged as on 1 September 2026, so the degree must be complete by that date.
Minimum 35 WPM in English on a computer, maximum 3% mistakes. In 2026 the Typing Speed Test carries 50 marks (minimum 25 to qualify).
Knowledge of computer operation is an essential qualification. In 2026 it is tested through 15 Computer Knowledge questions inside the Objective paper — there is no separate computer test this time.

Vacancies are tentative and may be revised after the notification — the 2025 advertisement itself stated the 241 figure was subject to increase or decrease. The Supreme Court recruits on an irregular cycle, typically every 1–3 years, and conducts the process entirely in-house.
6Exam Pattern 2026 (New)
- Objective Type Test – 100 MCQs, 1½ hours, in 131 cities. Minimum 50 marks.
- Typing Speed Test on Computer – English, 35 w.p.m., 10 minutes (Delhi/NCR).
- Written Test (Descriptive) – Comprehension, Précis and Essay in English, 2 hours (Delhi/NCR).
- Interview – online or in person in Delhi.
If many candidates score 50+ in the Objective Test, they are shortlisted in a 1:10 ratio for the Typing and Descriptive tests. The descriptive answer sheet is evaluated only if you qualify the Typing Test. Candidates qualifying all three tests are called for interview in a 1:3 ratio.

- Computer Knowledge moved inside the main paper (15 questions) — no separate 25-question computer test.
- Shorter paper: 1½ hours (was 2 hours).
- Typing now scored: 50 marks (minimum 25). Descriptive minimum is 50/100 (was 55). Interview: 25 marks, minimum 13.
Answer keys are to be uploaded on 22 November 2026; objections can be filed online on 22–23 November 2026 (till 11:55 PM) at ₹100 per objection, refunded if the objection is accepted. Typing errors: a wrong word or figure is a full mistake; a wrong capital/small letter or an omitted/substituted punctuation mark is a half mistake.

The online link opens on 7 October 2026 and closes on 28 October 2026 at 11:55 PM. Apply only through www.sci.gov.in — there is no offline or postal form.
Go to www.sci.gov.in → Recruitments → the Junior Court Assistant advertisement dated 30 September 2026, and use the online application link provided there.
Enter your name, father’s name, mother’s name and date of birth exactly as in your Class 10 certificate. Choose your Objective Test cities in order of preference from the 131-city list (Annexure-A). Your category cannot be changed later.
Upload your photograph, signature and the certificates the form asks for (Class 10, Class 12, graduation, and caste/disability certificate if applicable), following the on-screen instructions.
General/Unreserved: ₹1,500. SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Ex-Servicemen/Physically Challenged: ₹750. Bank charges extra, non-refundable, UCO Bank payment gateway only.

107-Week Study Plan to the 20 November 2026 Exam
Read the Constitution’s judiciary articles (124–147, 214–237, 32, 226, 39A) and start the official Supreme Court Rules, 2013 and the 1961 Service Rules linked in the SCI notice of 1 October 2026. Make one-page notes per chapter. Fill the application form in the first week (window 7–28 October).
Grammar and comprehension practice daily (20 questions), arithmetic and reasoning drills (15), current affairs of the last 6 months (15) and computer basics (15). Revise the two rule books once more.
Take a 100-question, 90-minute mock every two days and mark −0.25 for each wrong answer. Track accuracy by section and stop guessing blindly. Start 15 minutes of daily typing practice.
Final revision of law notes and formulas before 20 November. After the Objective Test, switch fully to 35+ WPM typing with under 3% errors and weekly précis/essay practice for the Delhi/NCR stage.

Judiciary in the Constitution (15), Supreme Court Rules 2013 (10) and the 1961 Service Rules (10) make up 35% of the Objective Test, and the Court has published both rule books for free. Most aspirants will not read them closely — you should, twice.
Each wrong answer now costs 0.25 marks. Skip questions you cannot narrow down to two options. The minimum to qualify is 50/100, and shortlisting is 1:10, so accuracy matters more than attempting all 100.
The Typing Test is no longer just pass/fail — it carries 50 marks (minimum 25), and your descriptive paper is checked only if you clear it. Fifteen minutes a day now gets you to a comfortable 40 WPM by the Delhi/NCR stage.
The descriptive paper (comprehension, précis, essay) needs 50/100. Practise one précis and one essay a week on themes like access to justice, judicial pendency and technology in courts.
