12. 💡 Expert Preparation Tips
With 40 questions and a separate 35% qualifying mark in Hindi, many candidates fail despite scoring well in other sections. Focus heavily on Hindi grammar — especially Sandhi, Samas, Muhavare, and Vilom. Do NOT neglect it.
Law questions (IPC key sections, CrPC procedures, criminal justice basics) are unique to police exams and carry high weightage. Most coaching students skip this, creating a huge opportunity. Spend dedicated time on it.
PST/PET eliminates many written exam qualifiers who ignored fitness. The 800m run target (2:40 for males, 3:30 for females) requires weeks of training. Height and chest measurements are fixed — but run, jump, and stamina can be built.
Questions on Uttar Pradesh — its schemes, districts, rivers, history, industries, and state government policies — are frequently asked. Most candidates study only national GK. Cover UP GK from a dedicated source like UP Samanya Gyan by Ghatna Chakra.
UP Police SI exams are primarily Hindi-medium. Practise mock tests in Hindi — the language, phrasing, and question patterns are different from English-medium SSC or banking exams. Use Testbook or Adda247 in Hindi.
That is roughly 45 seconds per question. Build speed by doing subject-wise timed drills. Aim: Reasoning in 22 min, Maths in 30 min, Hindi in 23 min, GK in 18 min (adjust to your strengths). Never get stuck on one question.
