Educational Qualification
Bachelor's Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a recognised university. No minimum percentage required. The degree must be complete by the cut-off date given in the notification.

160 MCQs (400 marks) in 120 minutes. OMR-based offline exam. Covers 4 subjects. No negative marking. Minimum 35% in each subject and 50% overall to qualify.

Timed run: men 4.8 km in 28 minutes, women 2.4 km in 16 minutes. Qualifying only — no marks added.

You need at least 35% in each of the 4 subjects AND 50% overall to qualify. Many candidates score well overall but slip below 35% in one subject, often General Hindi. Focus on Hindi grammar — especially Sandhi, Samas, Muhavare and Vilom — and do not leave any subject weak.
Law questions are unique to police exams. Since 1 July 2024 the IPC and CrPC have been replaced by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) — learn the key provisions and how old IPC sections map to new BNS sections. Many candidates skip this, so it is a big opportunity.
PST/PET eliminates many written-exam qualifiers who ignored fitness. The PET is a 4.8 km run in 28 minutes for men and a 2.4 km run in 16 minutes for women — that needs weeks of steady running practice. Height and chest are fixed, but stamina can be built.
Questions on Uttar Pradesh — its schemes, districts, rivers, history, industries, and state government policies — are frequently asked. Most candidates study only national GK. Cover UP GK from a dedicated source like UP Samanya Gyan by Ghatna Chakra.
UP Police SI exams are primarily Hindi-medium. Practise mock tests in Hindi — the language, phrasing, and question patterns are different from English-medium SSC or banking exams. Pick a Hindi-medium mock test series and analyse every test.
That is roughly 45 seconds per question. Build speed by doing subject-wise timed drills. Aim: Reasoning in 22 min, Maths in 30 min, Hindi in 23 min, GK in 18 min (adjust to your strengths). Never get stuck on one question.
