The Bihar Police Sub Inspector (SI), commonly known as Daroga, is a Group C gazetted post in the Bihar Police department. SI is the first officer-level rank in the Bihar Police hierarchy, supervising Constables and reporting directly to the Inspector. An SI leads a police outpost or is posted at a police station.

Preliminary Examination (PT)

🔎 Bihar Special Branch SI 2026 (Advt. 09/2026) — the SI with no running test
Separate from the Daroga recruitment above, BPSSC also fills Police Sub-Inspector (General Closed Cadre) posts in the Special Branch (Home/Police Dept) — Advt. 09/2026, 150 posts, Pay Level 6. Its biggest difference: there is no running, long jump, high jump or shot put. The only physical stage is height, chest and weight measurement (same standards as the table above — 165 cm for General/OBC, 160 cm for EBC/SC/ST; women 155 cm). Selection is decided on the written exam, so it suits candidates who are strong on paper but worried about the physical test.
Eligibility: graduate as on 1 August 2025; age 20–37 (General male), 20–40 (General female, BC & EBC), 20–42 (SC/ST); flat fee ₹100. The application window (9 July–9 August 2026) has closed. Bihar GK is your biggest differentiator — most candidates from outside Bihar underestimate it. Prepare at least 200 Bihar-specific facts: history, geography, economy, culture, personalities and government schemes. Bihar GK can easily give you 15–20 marks extra in Prelims.
