🗓️ 6-Month Study Plan
Start with Bihar History, Geography and Polity — this is where Bihar Police SI sets itself apart from other state police exams. Prepare a dedicated Bihar notebook. Revise Indian Freedom Struggle and key Constitutional Articles. Read one Bihar-focused GK book cover to cover. Begin daily 15-minute current affairs reading.
Cover Class 9–10 Science systematically — NCERT textbooks are ideal for this stage. For Maths, master Percentage, Ratio, Profit-Loss and Time-Work first — these form the backbone of both Prelims and daily life problems. Solve 30 Maths questions daily with a timer.
Reasoning requires pattern recognition, not memorisation — solve previous papers for type familiarity. For Social Studies, use NCERT History (8–10) and NCERT Geography (9–10). Make a timeline of Indian and Bihar history. Study Indian Polity using M. Laxmikanth's class 10–12 material (not the full book).
Hindi Paper carries 100 marks in Mains and is qualifying — don't underestimate it. Cover Sandhi, Samas, Muhavare and Vilom from a standard grammar book. Write 2 essays per week on social and Bihar-specific topics. Start taking full-length Prelims mock tests — analyse every mistake before moving on.
PET/PST comes after Prelims, but physical fitness cannot be built in 2 weeks — start training from Month 1 alongside academics. Focus on 1.6 km run timing and shot put technique if these are weak areas. Revise Bihar GK and Current Affairs weekly. Attempt 3–4 full mock tests this month and analyse each thoroughly.

🧠 Expert Tips for Bihar Police SI
Bihar GK is your biggest differentiator — most candidates from outside Bihar underestimate it. Prepare at least 200 Bihar-specific facts: history, geography, economy, culture, personalities and government schemes. Bihar GK can easily give you 15–20 marks extra in Prelims.
Prelims has negative marking of −0.2 per wrong answer. Attempt only those questions you are confident about. A score of 130–140 out of 200 is typically enough to clear Prelims — don't sacrifice accuracy for speed in the first hour.
Hindi Paper in Mains is qualifying — you must pass it regardless of your overall score. Don't treat it lightly. Spend at least 30 minutes daily on Hindi grammar and essay writing from Month 3 onwards.
Start physical training on Day 1 — not after Prelims. The PET/PST physical test is eliminating for many written-cleared candidates who ignored fitness. For males, the 1.6 km run in 6:30 minutes and shot put are the hardest events — train specifically for these.
The BPSSC SI cycle is historically slow — the 2020 notification cycle took until 2025 to complete selection. Plan for a 2–3 year journey and keep appearing for other state police and government exams simultaneously. Don't put all your preparation eggs in one basket.
Read the Bihar Government's key welfare schemes — Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, Har Ghar Bijli, Bihar Laghu Udyami Yojana, Jal Jeevan Hariyali — these appear in GK papers every cycle. Keep a dedicated 'Bihar Schemes' quick-revision sheet.
Solve at least 3 previous year BPSSC SI question papers in exam conditions. This gives you a realistic sense of difficulty, topic weightage and time management. Most candidates who prepare without previous papers are surprised by the actual question style on exam day.
