1What is APSC CCE 2026?

The Assam Public Service Commission Combined Competitive Examination (APSC CCE) is one of the most prestigious state-level exams in Northeast India. It recruits eligible graduates for Group A and Group B posts across 11 civil services, with the Assam Civil Service (ACS) being the most coveted.

Conducted annually by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) at Guwahati, the exam follows a three-stage process: Prelims, Mains, and Personal Interview. The final merit is based on Mains (1500 marks) + Interview (180 marks) = 1680 marks total.

Unlike UPSC IAS, the APSC CCE features a dedicated General Studies of Assam paper (250 marks) in Mains — making deep knowledge of Assam's history, culture, economy, and current affairs essential for a high rank.

12Expert Preparation Tips

1

Make Assam GK Your Strongest Section

APSC CCE sets itself apart from UPSC with its Assam-specific paper (Paper VI, 250 marks). Candidates who invest time in Assam history, culture, economy, and current affairs gain a significant edge. Start a dedicated Assam GK notebook from day one.

2

CSAT Is Qualifying — But Don't Ignore It

Paper II is qualifying with 33% as the cutoff. Many candidates underestimate CSAT and fall short. Solve at least 5 full CSAT mock papers before the exam. Consistent practice keeps you safe from elimination at the first stage.

3

Answer Writing Is the Real Mains Battle

The APSC Mains is entirely descriptive. 6 papers × 3 hours each means your writing speed, structure, and content depth directly decide your rank. Start practicing Mains-style answers 2–3 months before Prelims — do not wait for results.

4

Follow Assamese Newspapers for Current Affairs

The Sentinel, Assam Tribune, and Pratidin carry state-level news that national publications miss. APSC GS of Assam paper heavily tests recent Assam-specific events — flood relief, tribal affairs, connectivity projects, and governance policies.

5

Prelims Marks Don't Count — But Strategy Does

APSC Prelims are qualifying only. Your Mains + Interview score (1680 total) determines your rank. Clear Prelims safely (aim for 120+ in GS I), then invest maximum effort in Mains preparation from day one.
